INT. CAVALIERS - NIGHT

               Kirk walks up to Dex and gives him a hug. Dex walks to the
               chalk board by the pool table and writes his name on the
               board. He then settles up to the bar. Julia walks past behind
               him with a pool cue.

                                   MICHELLE
                         Hey honey.

                                   DEX
                         Hi Michelle.

                                   MICHELLE
                         Guiness?

                                   DEX
                         Nah. A coke is fine. Can you make
                         it look like a mixed drink?

                                   MICHELLE
                         Oh, that's right. The bet. My
                         money's on Dill.

               Michelle gets him a coke.

                                   DEX
                         Thanks for the vote of confidence.
                         So how are things?

                                   MICHELLE
                         Things are good. Where have you
                         been?

                                   DEX
                         Out and about. I saw this great
                         perfect girl the other night and
                         I've been looking all over for her.

               Michelle's eyes get big. 

                                   MICHELLE
                         Betsy?

                                   DEX
                             (shocked)
                         No. Hey, how did you know I used to
                         like Betsy.

                                   MICHELLE
                         Honey. This is a bar. This is where
                         you get fucked up.
                         I know tons of shit about you and
                         everyone that comes in here.
                         Especially stuff you don't want me
                         to know about.

               Dex hunches over the bar.

                                   DEX
                         Good point. Anyways, the girl I'm
                         talking about is way beyond Betsy.
                         She's an angel, a goddess.

               Julia is in the background doing something crude. Michelle
               nods her head as if she's listening, she's not paying
               attention, she's writing a to do list that reads laundry,
               hair-cut, light bulbs.

                                   MICHELLE
                         So what's this girls name?

               Dex looking up as Julia walks up behind him.

                                   DEX
                         That's the trick, I don't know
                         anything about her, but I'll find
                         her. No matter how long is takes.

               Julia is handing Michelle some money for a drink. She reaches
               past Dex who doesn't notice who's behind him.

                                   DEX
                         I'll find her.

               In the background, we can see Julia playing pool with Dylan
               and Kirk.

                                   MICHELLE
                         Uh huh. Good luck.

               Michelle walks away to tend to another customer. Dex sits
               back and revolves on his bar stool. Straight ahead of him is
               Julia. She's setting a cue against a wall and picking up a
               purse. Dex seems un-phased. Then, as she makes her way to the
               womens bathroom he realizes what's going on. 

               He jumps up to follow her. She walks into the women's
               bathroom. Dex stops short of the door just missing her. He
               waits for a second, and then goes in after her.

               Dylan and Kirk look at each other and laugh.

               INT. WOMEN'S BATHROOM - NIGHT

               Julia is fixing her make up when she is startled by Dex's
               intrusion. Dex seems out of breath.

                                   JULIA
                         Uh, hi. Little boy's room all full?

                                   DEX
                         Huh? Oh.. Uh hi.. my name is Dex.

               Julia just looks at Dex's outstretched hand. Dex recoils his
               hand.

                                   DEX
                         Yeah, see. I saw you last week at
                         Dead Links and I uh..

               Julia is looking at him as if he is from mars. Dex starts to
               look around the bathroom, realizing he's never been in there.

                                   DEX
                         Hey, this is kinda nice. 

               Julia looks uncomfortable.

                                   JULIA
                             (clearing her throat)

                                   DEX
                             (stammering)
                         Uh, listen. I saw you last week and
                         I tried to chase after you.. I mean
                         follow, er.. I mean.. I wanted...

               Dex pauses

                                   JULIA
                         What did you want?

                                   DEX
                         I wanted to talk to you.

                                   JULIA
                         And what would you have said?

                                   DEX
                         I think you're beautiful.

               Julia is actually shocked. Her head tilts down but her eyes
               go up. Just as the two of them are about to be lost in a
               touching moment, they are interrupted by some girl in a
               stall.

                                   ANONYMOUS GIRL
                         Do you mind? I'm trying to take a
                         shit in here.

               Julia's eyes widen. Dex grits and bears his teeth.

                                   DEX
                         Uh, ya wanna get out of here.

                                   JULIA
                         No.

               Dex looking disappointed.

                                   JULIA
                         No silly. You go out there and I'll
                         finish up in here. I need to take a
                         pee.

               Dex stumbles out of the rest room. A big smile on his face.
               He walks past his friends without addressing them. He's in a
               fog.

               INT. DEX IS SEATED AT THE BAR - NIGHT

               Dex sits and waits. He fidgets. Julia then walks up and sits
               next to him.

                                   JULIA
                         That's not how I usually meet
                         boys.(hic)

                                   DEX
                         Me neither.

               Julia laughs. Dex again extends his hand. Julia takes it and
               shakes it.

                                   DEX
                         Hi. My name is Dex.

                                   JULIA
                         Is that short for Dexter?

                                   DEX
                             (humorously upset)
                         How very observant of you.

               Julia sees her error.

                                   JULIA
                         I'm Julia.

                                   DEX
                         Nice to meet you Julia. Look, can I
                         buy you a drink or something.

                                   JULIA
                         You can buy me three or four. (hic)

               Dex is shocked. 

                                   DEX
                         So, what do you like to do.

                                   JULIA
                         Is this Blind Date or something?
                         ElimmaDex.. Well, I like to ride
                         horses... I love animals.

                                   DEX
                         Really? 
                         (beat)
                         Animals are cool.

               Julia gives him a strange look.

                                   DEX
                         Where ya from?

                                   JULIA
                         Texas. I grew up in Ama-ama-ama
                         rillo.

               Dex looks taken a back.

                                   JULIA
                         What? You don't like Texas?

                                   DEX
                         What? Me? No, Texas is great. Love
                         it. If it's one thing I'm always
                         telling my friends is how much I
                         love Texas. So, uh.. how do you
                         like San Diego?

                                   JULIA
                         It's okay. Weird guys. I've been
                         thinking of moving back to Texas if
                         things don't work out.

                                   DEX
                         Don't do that... er, I mean.. I
                         always say it's not the
                         environment.. it's your attitude.

                                   JULIA
                         Right...
                             (beat)
                         Rum and coke?

                                   DEX
                         Yeah. I've been trying to cut back
                         on the drinking.

               Julia looks disappointed.

                                   DEX
                         But I still do plenty of drugs, a
                         lot of acid and "e" and shit.

                                   JULIA
                         Greeaaattt. You're funny.

               Dex doesn't realize she thinks he's joking.

                                   DEX
                             (looking around)
                         So, uh, are you here alone?

                                   JULIA
                         No, I came with my friend Margaret,
                         only I don't see her anymore. 

               Julia begins to look around.

                                   DEX
                         What'd she look like?

                                   JULIA
                         Short hair, kinda cute.

                                   DEX
                         I think I ran into her outside. I
                         think she was leaving with some
                         guy.

                                   JULIA
                         Don't be ridiculous.
                             (not so confident)
                         Margaret wouldn't leave me.

                                   DEX
                         Well, if she did leave, I could
                         give you a ride...

               Kirk calls Dex's name to play pool.

                                   KIRK
                         Dex!! Dexter!

               Dex turns around and looks at Kirk. He looks worried, like
               he's going to miss his only chance.

                                   DEX
                         That's me, but.. but I don't have
                         to play.

                                   JULIA
                         Sure you do.

               Dex looks confused.

                                   JULIA
                         You're playing me. Rack'em up 
                         Dexter.

               Julia gets up and starts to chalk her cue. Right about now is
               when Johnny Cash's "One Piece at a time" starts up.

               Dex starts to walk towards her as Dylan steps in front of him
               and blocks him. Kirk moves in on Julia.

                                   DEX
                         Hey, what gives.

                                   DYLAN
                         We saw her first, man.

                                   DEX
                         No no no, you don't understand.
                         Don't fuck around. This is the girl
                         I've been looking for..

               Kirk walks up to Dex.

                                   KIRK
                         No, you don't understand. We saw
                         Julia first. Get in line retard.

                                   DEX
                         Guys, this is the girl. The girl.
                         Come on. What gives? I thought you
                         were dating a stripper and you...
                             (motioning towards Dylan)
                         You're supposed to be celibate.

                                   KIRK
                         Sorry buddy.

                                   DYLAN
                         Finder's keepers.

                                   DEX
                         Great. Figures, I'd run into my
                         friends "cock" and "block" when I
                         meet the woman of my dreams.

                                   JULIA
                         Are we going to play? Put up or
                         shut up.

               Now we show numerous shots of setting up to play pool.
               Chalking. Breaking. Balls sinking. Different looks. The three
               friends competing for Julia's attention. Dylan and Kirk
