5:24 AM - I was at Kadan's the other night breaking down the shot for this coming Saturday's shoot. I also talked with Bryan and Chris for awhile. They sound as enthused as I do. The film is looking really cool... we just have to finish it now. I emailed the San Diego goth list the other day to ask for extras and I got a number of responses, so things should look pretty cool..So many things to think about. Extras, special lighting, fog, continuity, funny boxer shorts, picking out the clothes for the all important first scene, finding someone that looks like Betty Page or Dita Von Teese to play Betsy Tail, finishing the end of the script, storyboarding, getting a new tripod, securing more locations, talking with the SD film society, talking to a million other people... and working.. ugh.. daunting but not impossible.. like I always say.. Optimists die smiling... I should really get some sleep now... uh...

Merry Christmas,

Jeromy

Today's recommended film "XX/XY" Wow! Painfully good movie. I say painfully, cuz it's not necessarily the feel good movie of the year. Real emotions and incredible actors. The conflict makes you feel icky in a way. I also had good memories of the early nineties... but this movie some how dredges up the bad parts of the nineties... I'm going to have to buy this movie.Oh, and the cinematography is incredible... it looks like available light most of the time, but they use it really well.

Today's recommended film "Lone Star State Of Mind" What can I say. I wasn't expecting much so I was broadsided by this silly slapstick comedy of a movie. Hillarious characters, the plot actually has some interesting twists for such a predictable plot. By recommending this, I'm probably getting your hopes up to high.. but mine were low enough to be genuinely surprised. Rent it and see what you think.

12:02 PM - Hey there, hi there, ho there? er? I's happy.... movie is moving a long... we've secured the coolest location for the dinner scene... it actually helped me fill a gap in the script... we have our first goth shoot set up... Chris at Kadan's is a really great guy.. and I thought I liked hockey...Bryan Pollard has been a tremendous help. We just shot our biggest scene to date over the weekend and snuck in a bonfire scene... phew... I could go on and on.. but it's best I get back to work...

Merry Christmas,

Jeromy

Today's recommended film "Stevie" Excellent documentary. I loved "Hoop Dreams" but I think I like this film even more. I'm not necessarily recommending the film however... it's kind of sad... in a human nature kind of way. The film deals with a man the director was a big brother to when they were younger... the film cathces up with Stevie and we get to see his life and a terrible turn it takes.

11:11 PM - Okay, so the end of August was sort of a wash.... We had plans to shoot one major and two minor scenes the last week of August.. but sometimes director plans and god laughs. I went to Chicago and had a great time.. but when I came back... it just wasn't in the cards to shoot.

But that was then.. this is now... ha... that sounded funny. September and October are going to be extremely productive. Ya-hoo... Thanks so much for your patience.. and keep checking back for more details.

Merry Christmas,

Jeromy

Today's recommended film "Seabiscut" A bit sappy, but sometimes you need that. Chris Cooper has moved into my top five best actors list. He's incredible. Oh yeah.. and then you have Jeff Bridges and Tobey Maguire to boot.. I liked this film mucho...
