10:11 PM - Woooooo.... good morning...errr... good evening. I just woke up.. yeah, I know it's time to go to bed if I'm supposed to wake up at 6am tomorrow... but Ben Dimagmaliw and I went up to the Show Biz Expo. Fantastic time... I found the dv drive I wanted. I saw a number of other goodies that I want, but I'll wait on. Needless to say, I was bushed... alas... nap was good. We start a three day shoot tomorrow. Saturday: Frock You and the field trip to Sabbat. Sunday: rehearsal and graveyard scene... Monday: Comikaze scene. phew... I'll try and let you know how everything goes.. but it seems like a huge undertaking... fingers crossed.

Merry Christmas,

Jeromy

Today's recommended film "Narc" Ray Liotta is an incredible actor. It's a crime he's not in more films. The story isn't that great but the performances by Liotta and Jason Patric are perfect. I was stupid and rented this dvd... obviously I should have bought it and saved myslef the three bucks... oh well...

11:34 AM - Hi...busy busy busy... Today I get to finish coloring 2 covers and a bunch of pages... I get to check out Frock You and Comikaze... and a graveyard... and then do more pages... and then work on the script... Tomorrow is hair for Grant... hopefully wardrobe for Julia and Shannon... finish Batman. Friday, Ben and I go to the Show Biz Expo.. and then we shoot on the weekend... we have a new band to add to the list of hopefull bands to be involved in the soundtrack.... Bartenders Bible!!! They will totally fit the vibe of the film... check out their site... and check out Smokewagon's site...There's a point in the film where things transition from Gothic to more Country (I know.. I'm sick in the head)... originally... I was going to use Johnny Cash at this point in the movie.. but for obvious reasons.... I'm using other artists.....

Merry Christmas,

Jeromy

Today's recommended film "Twin Falls Idaho" Okay.. so this movie makes you feel sorta icky... but hey... that's an emotion, isn't it. The Director/Writer/Actor/Twins of the film are amazing.. the Polish brothers (Mark and Michael) really spin an f'ed up story.... the texture of the film is incredible.. the lighting is really moody... Michele Hicks is gorgeous.. she reminds me of a different Jennifer Connley. This movie has a David Lynch vibe to it... I probably could watch this film over and over if it didn't leave me with such a weird feeling after watching it... the brothers have a new film coming out soon with huge stars in it.... but it doesn't look like they sacrificed any of their artistic integrity... the film is called Northfork, check it our.

11:10 AM - I just finished a righteous cantalope... we're talking incredible melon. mmmmm.. now I'm in a good mood. I was writing on the script last night and I was realizing that now that I've shot some actual scenes, I write better. I'm sort of writing to my strengths as a film maker... oohh... that sounded pretentious... anyways... I'm also writing now and there's an added incentive to write the scenes well.. because the actors are going to embelish what ever I write and make it better. Cool. So, outside the realm of actual film making and closer to finnancing... I finished coloring two comics over the last week and a half. Last week was Teen Titans number one and yesterday I finished Terra Obscura, which if you're interested is getting pretty good buzz. The story is part of Alan Moore's comic universe, i.e. ABC comics. The Fourth Rail gave the first issue a pretty good review... you should check it out. So.... we have a three, possibly four day shoot coming up this weekend. Saturday is Julia and Shannon scene... Sunday is rehearsal/wardrobe during the day and the graveyard scene at night... Monday is the Comic Book store scene... and if we can figure it out... we'll shoot another scene on Tuesday.... whoah... we'll see. This week entails for me... location scouting/photo reference for various scenes. Talking with SAG and the SDFilm society... talking with the guys at the AV supply about some camera issues.... wow... I shouldn't be writing this... I got a ton of stuff to do... well, go check out the new photos if you haven't already...

Merry Christmas,

Jeromy

Today's recommended film "Touch Of Evil" Orson Wells is awesome. If you don't believe me... rent the Muppet Movie.... or... Touch Of Evil... Orson Wells and Charlton Heston make this noir film pulse with emotion.... heh heh.. that sounded stupid... okay.... so I'm not doing a good job of reviewing this film... but trust me.. this film is great... I'm going to go get it today..

11:15 PM - Okay, first off... sorry for the abscence. We've been working on the film (Two scenes in the can!!!!) and my computer completely died.. as in I lost all of my information.. last month it was my Outlook.. this month it's my entire computer..... long story short... I wiped my drive and lost tons of information.. but that's behind me now... and I've reloaded Dreamweaver and here we are. Principal photography began on the 14th. We shot Lance Pualani at an office building downtown (thanks to Shannon and the wonderful people at Silicon Space). Lance, Julia, Shane, Jason, and Ron showed up along with Lance Pualani... and we knocked out a pretty decent scene. No major problems and some interesting lighting... set decorating was amazingly fun... oh.. I could go on and on.. but I'm pressed for time... I have to finish the second issue of Terra Obscura by tomorrow/Monday morning.... but keep checking back in and I'll have photos up from the first two scenes we've shot. We're shooting three days in a row at the end of the month.. check the calendar for more information.... this is so amazing energizing... I'm having a blast... thanks everyone...

Merry Christmas,

Jeromy

Today's recommended film "Frida" I was ready to not like Salma? Selma? forget it.. she was great.. the movie is incredible.. fantatstic visuals.. just enough history... just enough Diego Rivera... I was at my favorite taco shop today, Bahia.. there were some Diego Rivera prints on the wall.. they had a whole new meaning after seeing the movie. If you haven't seen this... check it out.... it's rad.

3:05 PM - Wow... A whole month without an update to the journal... what happened?

I'll try and be brief... family member dies... family comes to town... miss work... work backs up... more work backs up... take broken camera in to be fixed.... e-mail goes kaput... get new operating sysetm on one of my computers... begin retyping all of my e-mail accounts and contacts back into new e-mail program...work on script re-write... catch up on work.... buy new camera... more work on script... get word that older broken camera is now fixed... starting to feel normal again..June....

Uh... okay... long brief short... my month started with a death... and ended with... well, I don't think it really ended with anything... other than a new found feeling of wanting to create. So... if we haven't lost you yet.. get ready for June... we're starting shooting in the next two weeks... we're going to knock off the "Weed" scenes first.. because they are mostly singular character scenes... then we'll shoot some Shannon and Julia scenes... and then hopefully work on the graveyard scene (Cody and Ian)... then Kirk's office scenes (Lance P.).. then the comic store scene (Ian, Lance P., Steve and Ron)... and then we'll see where we go from there... this will all be on the online calendar by next week, fingers crossed.

Let's see.. other news...

We've got business cards and pins in the pipeline... The new camera is awesome... now we just have to get used to using it.... There's more news.. but I'll save it for the next couple of days...

Merry Christmas,

Jeromy

Today's recommended film "Max" John Cusak as an art dealer who befriends a young Adolf Hitler... I love World War II era films.... I heard some people critique this movie for treating Adolf so human.. but I think that's the most important part of this film.. it shows the evolution of a normal human into an evil demagogue. Not a very happy movie.... but I found it fascinating.
