4:19 PM - Holy $%^%# last night went well. We had our final casting/reading last night and everything went amazing. True, our DV camera did break right as we were starting... but we made out alright. Some fantastic reads last night. Some first timers that really gave the seasoned people a run for our money? er? Anyways.. thanks again to everyone that showed up. We're a mere 22 days from the start of principal photography... so it's good that we had a large turn out. If you weren't able to make it last night, the big news was Cinco De Mayo. What's the fifth of May have to do with anything? Well, we've set that as our drop dead date for most everything. The full completed script will be up online, our online calendar (myvirtualcalendar.com) will be up and running with a complete shooting schedule, and we'll be telling everyone that has made it into the film.. which parts they have. It's going to be painful to tell some of you that you're not one of the leads or major supporting cast.. but hopefully you'll still want to help out in smaller roles and as extras. Speaking of extras... start putting your feelers out there about extras and locations. If you have information for either..., e-mail Lance. He'll get everything where it needs to be. Again, thank you so much for everything. On the one hand my job is much easier because I have so much to choose from and on the other hand it is that much more difficult because there are so many talented people that want to be involved.. and I have to make a decision on who's who. If you couldn't make the final casting but you're still dying to be involved, we'll be having a few rehearsals over the next two weeks. We'll choose one of those to be a make up date for a selected few. So if you want to read and you didn't get a chance... again.. .e-mail Lance. We'll work it out. Merry Christmas, Jeromy
Today's recommended film "Battle Royale " Thanks Mike... This is a film that my friend Mike showed me and let me borrow. Now it's hard to recommend to people that might not get what the film is trying to do.. i.e. don't take it to seriously.. .. If you can get past the violence and gore... that it's a pretty fun movie. It's like live action Anime meets Lord Of The Flies. Friends of mine that have seen it say this is what "Shaolin Soccer is like... so that's what I'm looking for now.. Mark? |

9:37 PM - Okay, so I have like this day job... er.. job that I do other than making movies that is... I color comic books for a living (I just got nominated for two comic book awards, my fourth Eisner nomination and my first Harvey, cool). Why am I telling you this... it's so you know why I go missing in action from time to time. Comic book schedules are chaotic and I work on about 5 books a month.. that's crazy by the way. So it takes time away from me getting to work on my film porjects.. but then again.. it's what will actually pay for the films. From now on though.. I'll be pretty much in your face with the updates and e-mails and phone calls. That's a good thing. That's all for now.. I have to get ready for tomorrow... tomorrow is the final casting day and I have to get up early to go over things with Lance... Oh yeah, one more thing. We're still looking for an actress or model that looks like Bettie Page or Dita Von Teese to play the role of Betsy Tail.. .know anyone... please ask them to contact us. Merry Christmas, Jeromy
Today's recommended film "Better Luck Tomorrow" I went to see this film the other night at the local Madstone Theatre. This is a fantastic film. It was the opening weekend and the lead actress was in the Theatre. She spoke before the film and thanked the audience for showing up. The all Asian cast was actually a breath of fresh air. The fact that the cast is Asian isn't what makes this film great however. It's the cast and the refreshing cinematography. The story is pretty straight forward, although I must admit the plot twist actually got me. I highly recommend this film... I'll be seeing it again soon. |

7:43 PM - Whoah!!! Busy.. busy... busy... I'm busier than a Saddam body double. I've been talking with the local San Diego SAG office... I just went down to the SD Film Commission's office... I reserved a great meeting room at the Park Manor Suite Hotel in Hillcrest for our next reading on the 24 of April. Lance, Julia and I muscled over the rewrite the other night... I've started the arduous task of determining locations and trying to lock down dates with owners... On top of all that, I've been coloring comics like a madman. Daren Bader drew up a groovy logo for the movie.. which we'll be printing on stickers and shirts to advertise the film. Producer/writer friend Lance is starting to take over a number of rolls so I can concentrate on more specific things... An online calendar is in the works and should be operation by the end of next week, fingers crossed. uh.. am I forgetting anything? A number of musicians are starting to send me samples.. so if you know anyone that has industrial/gothic/country music that we can use.. tell them to send me a disk or an mp3. We're hopefully going to be working with Kevin Omen of Smokewagon... he found us on the net and his music meshes perfectly with what we're trying to accomplish. Gameskins is going to assist us with costuming/wardrobe.. if you've read the script, then you know that these shirts will fit perfectly.. ha.. that was a bad pun on accident. We're in discussions with Juli Maldonado, to do hair and make up for the movie.. ahhh.. so much cool stuff is happening... okay.. I'll leave some for the next journal update.. check the links page if you get a chance.. lotta good stuff is going up there... Merry Christmas, Jeromy
Today's recommended film "Adaptation" I knew I was going to like this movie... the actors.. the director.. friend Mark told me I had to see it.. and he was right... I hated relating to the main character.. but then again.. what are you going to do... hee.. see it if you get a chance.. and if you're here in San Diego.. check out Madstone theatres.. they rule.. great vibe... |
